Find a Number

Find a Number allows you to search for up to 580 available numbers or up to 290 available, but recently used, numbers that could be used at a particular address.

The first stage of any Find a Number request is to identify the address for which the request relates to, this is done using the usual address matching process, for example see below:

Once the address has been selected then the Portal will automatically request the first 20 available numbers from Openreach (the "Standard" list) an on screen message will indicate this, see below:

Once the results have been returned from Openreach then the list of 20 available numbers will be displayed on screen, see below:

To see a list of 580 available numbers open the "List Type" drop down box and select "Long", the numbers will be retrieved from Openreach and be displayed on screen in the same way. To see a list of 290 numbers which are in the "quarantine period", i.e. they've been in used up until recently then select "Maturing" from the drop down list; the available numbers will be displayed on screen:

Whilst using a "Maturing" number may mean a greater likelihood of receiving calls related to the previous owner, this list can contain desirable numbers and a customer may overlook the potential drawback of using a "Maturing" number in favour of getting their preferred number.

The list of available numbers can be filtered to only show those numbers that contain a particular string of digits - there is a text box in which the required digit string can be entered, for example see below:

Shown above are all numbers containing "00".
